Are you a tall mama? I am. I am definitely in the higher bracket of tall being 6’2″ but I know there are many lovely ladies taller than myself. When you are tall everything takes a little bit longer. Shopping takes longer. Trying things on takes longer. Getting dressed takes longer. I used to hate how tall I was. I could never find reasonably priced jeans that would actually be long enough and shirts are never long enough. I figured out one of those issues and I still have to dry my shirts on the coolest heat otherwise I will be sporting a crop top “I Can’t Adult Today” shirt. No Bueno…
I thought because of the hardships I faced growing up without all the options there are nowadays, some other mamas may not be aware of all the options available now with long lengths or long shirts. So I thought I would share. Spread the love.
Here is a list of some of my go-to websites to buy tall items because as a tall girl, you know god forbid they put anything tall in an actual store for you to try on…
Old Navy/Gap
Since they are owned by the same company I thought I would include them as the same. Both of these stores have a tall section with long length pants. My go-to denim is Old Navy’s Rockstar Skinny jeans. I have probably gone through around 9 pairs so far and for the price, why not? Their yoga pants are perfection as well. If you are looking for a bit better quality with not as much stretch, you can go with the Gap. They are a bit more expensive but they quality can definitely be noticed. Always wait until there is a sale. Their tops are hit and miss from both. They seem to forget that tall usually means longer arms as well.
Long Tall Sally
If you are a tall girl, this website should be well known. It is a website/store with ONLY clothes for tall girls. They have thousands of items including shoes, activewear, pajamas, and dresses. I enjoy them to an extent. Because you can’t try it on in store, you are taking a risk and sometimes that does not pay off. I probably return half the items I get just because the sizing on their website is a bit wonky. Always size down with them. They have a perfect pair of leggings if you are looking for a long enough pair and they have very cute outerwear as well if that is an issue. They always have discounts and sales. ASOS
My new love! I could talk about the beauty of ASOS all day long! If you are looking for tall clothes with any type of trend or pizazz, look no further! They have super fun items and they go up to size 16 and they tend to run big. I have gotten so many tops from them that I absolutely love. I haven’t gotten any pants from them purely because high waist does not work for and that seems to be their jam at this point. They always have sales as well so take a look regularly. I love their easy tees in black and white. Super long.
Athleta
They have long swimsuits for those that prefer to wear tankinis or one piece swimsuits.
Lands End
They have longer inseams and long torso swimsuits. Not my jam but I know that lots of people love the quality and length of their items.
Some things I have noticed in my clothing ventures is that “tall” to some just means 35″ inseam. Most tall girls around my height, this is ankle. That might work fine for skinny jeans or leggings, but nobody wants highwater flares or bootcuts. Nuh-uh, not a good look.
If you are looking to keep your tall clothing tall, wash your stuff yourself. I can’t count how many times my lovely husband did the laundry and would dry my tees on the medium temp and they just shrunk enough that any time I lift my arms up, my belly shows and I hate that. Dry your stuff on the lowest temp or better yet, hang them up.
What are some of your favorite websites/stores that have actually tall clothing that works for you?
