Bath time can sometimes be the bane of my existence. “Mom! I want bubbles!” “Mom! I want colors!” “Mom! I want a glass of wine while I play!” Wait, what? Sorry that is what I say to her…
Almost every parent experiences the bum-city that can be bath time. The biggest part for us is the water that ends up everywhere. Some folks are lucky enough to have a bath where their kids can play on an inside ledge with their “science experiments,” but for us, we don’t have the proper layout. Which then results in Inga playing on the outside ledge of the tub leading to water EVERY WHERE! Not just regular water, but colored water from her bath fizzes.
I had a visual in my head for months of what I needed to find but for the life of me could not find anything. There HAD to be something out there that satisfied what I thought was needed but still let my daughter enjoy her tub time.
In walks the Shelfie. I sat in the bathroom as Inga took a bath and just started typing in different word combinations to try and get what I was envisioning. Bath tray. Bath shelf. Kids bath shelf. Kids tray organizer. FINALLY I came upon the SHELFIE! Dun dun DUN! It seemed so obvious and I thought, why is this not everywhere? I have not found anything about this product other than on Amazon.
The Shelfie – getashelfie.com was created by Joy Jones. A mom that desperately needed a solution to the same problem we all have. She just had the balls enough to actually make the product.
It has 2 suction cups on the bottom that go on the edge of the tub. I have seen a few reviews on Amazon stating that they had a hard time with the suction cups…hmmm. A suction cup is a fairly simple process I would think, and we haven’t had an issue at all with the suction cups not working. 2% smarter than the product you are using maybe.
The best part is that Inga LOVES it. She immediately started using it/testing its limits with pouring water straight onto it and pulling down on it. It has a tiny bit of a grade so the water just runs right off. It is 18.5 inches long so it is big enough to fit all of her cups and toys and it is about 7 inches deep to allow for the ledge to easily make it into the tub.
Since this is a new product, I am sure in the future she will develop other colors. At this point it only comes in a pretty aqua blue, which I love. It retails for about $20, which I think is a great price. Not only is it helping keep my bathroom clean and my towels dry, but it is also supporting a small company through Amazon Launchpad.
I would definitely get this immediately if you are having issues with bath time. I plan to be getting this for my friends that have kids a bit younger than Inga because now I can finally walk away from my child in the tub for 5 minutes to check on dinner to feed the dog.
Have you been looking for something like this as long as I have?
