Trying to find keto snacks can be difficult if you are on the go. Unless you want to live on beef jerky and almonds, trying to find snacks that do not need to be cold takes a bit of preparation. Whether you have your pantry stocked up or your car glove box has a stash ready to go.
My only issue with having certain snacks in the pantry and stocking up is that they are there to eat any time. I had to keep Quest cookies out of the house because I would eat 2 every day and I started craving more sweets because of it. So what I will be doing is linking where you can buy them online but also posting where you can stop if you are on the go to grab a snack.
Quest Cookies –
This is the first I wanted to start with. I find them to be delicious and filling. I like the chocolate chip or the peanut butter the most. Stay away from the oatmeal raisin as they are too high in carbs for a snack. If you are on the go and just want to grab 1 or a little box you can either go to GNC or Target. GNC sells individual cookies.
Jerky or Beef Sticks –
I know I know. Didn’t I just chastise just eating beef jerky above. As long as it is not what you are eating every day for a snack, it is all good. There are so many choices with beef jerky and they are literally everywhere. Gas stations, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joes. Just make sure that you are getting one with no sugar added. Jerky varies greatly between carbs and they are in way made equally.
Zevia –
If you are the type, like my husband, that works a lot and sometimes a red bull or Monster can become quite tempting. Try reaching for a Zevia Energy drink. They have more caffeine than a Red Bull but they have no sugar. Now these I have not been able to find in store, so I buy them as part of Subscribe and Save on Amazon. You can also stock up on the regular cans of pop that they have at Whole Foods and Target. These can make a great sweet drink, alcohol mixer, or dessert.
Almonds –
These are probably the perfect snack on the go. They can come in little serving packs or big bags. I do suggest buying the individual packs if you are on the go, just because it is REALLY easy to over eat almonds and since they are calorie dense it adds up quickly. If you buy a big bag from Costco or Sam’s Club, I would bag them up in serving snack bags before hand so you can just grab and go. Just like jerky, these are available pretty much everywhere. Just make sure if you are getting flavored that you keep an eye out for maltodextrin. This makes you want more and more and more.
Quest Chips –
If you have not tried their new tortilla chips, YOU. DON’T. KNOW. WHAT. YOU. ARE. MISSING! They are so good, and I just saw they have a new flavor of Chili Lime. These work great on the go or great for Taco Tuesdays or just an afternoon snack. Just like the cookies, these can be purchased individually from GNC. Otherwise, the only area I have found these is on Amazon and I buy a box at a time.
High Fiber Keto Muffins –
This is a bit of self promotion, but I find that my pumpkin high fiber muffins are perfect on the go. Cut them in half and put some butter in between and close back and eat like a sandwich. Delicious. Because they are so packed with fiber, they are a very filling snack as well.
Fathead Crackers –
Now these are a bit controversial on whether they can be cold or not. I tend to like them out of the fridge, but if you leave with them coming out of the fridge and plan to eat them in a couple hours, I do not see a problem. These are a great snack on the go, but also if you are going to a friend’s house and want to bring your own crackers for any appetizers or food that they will be setting out.
Keto Bars –
These bars are up there with one of the better real keto products that I have tried. They are a real keto company using real keto ingredients and all they do is keto. They have 3 flavors and they work great on the go. They are not meant to be stored cold and they are a great calorie dense snack. They could even be used as a dessert at the end of the night. I have done a full in depth review on these here if you want to check out more on them. So far I can find these on their website as well as Netrition.com.
Pepitas –
Now to most people these are called pumpkin seeds. I honestly don’t really know why they are call pepitas and not pumpkin seeds. Getting some roasted salted pepitas are delicious and great on the go. Just like almonds, they are calorie dense and can be easily over eaten. These take a bit more searching to find since in most grocery stores they tend to be in the produce department, but the ones I like I find at Whole Foods and Amazon.
Sunflower seeds –
If you are a grazer eater like me, sometimes just the act of eating helps pass the time. I have discovered dill pickle sunflower seeds. Now these are not shelled so they take time and effort to eat, which allows the brain to keep up with hunger cues. Unshelled sunflower seeds can be found in a lot of places like gas stations, Target, grocery stores, or Amazon if you want to buy in bulk.
Packs of Almond Butter –
This is not something that I have ever done on the go, but I know lots of people who like having pouches of almond butter in their car if they need a quick snack or to tide themselves over. Make sure that the packets you pick are just almond butter with no sugar. There are many that disguise themselves as healthy but are packed full of maple syrup, honey, and sugar. These can be found at Target and most grocery stores and if there is a sale I would stock up on some.
I hope that some of these items helped you come up with a list of snacks to have on the go. Whether you travel for work and don’t have ready access to a fridge or just need to run out the door and grab something quick from the pantry.
